An early 20th Century Chinese travelling seat in elm with decorative metalwork and carved details. The bench folds and was designed to be moved around and easily transported. The seat is woven from a hessian type natural fibre and could have a cushion made to sit on top. Very rarely seen in double seat form like this and thought to be used by travelling officials. The seat is highly decorative with well figured timber that has mellowed to a lovely warm tone .
