A superb set of eight early 19th century dining chairs circa 1830-40. The curved top rail is veneered in rosewood and the backs decorated with pierced scroll work and turnings framed by fluted stiles capped by stylised acanthus leaves. The legs are turned and fluted. The chairs are very comfortable and in very good condition with no loose joints and just evidence of two old repairs. The seats have been professionally re-upholstered in the last five years with traditional stitched edges and horse hair over jute webbing. Underneath the chairs have been left open as they should be for chairs of this period and the original corner braces are visible.
