Designed by Arne Jacobsen and produced by Fritz Hansen we have a set of six Oxford model high back dining chairs in real aniline waxed leather. These chairs were designed in 1965 as a lower back production model of the very tall chairs that Jacobsen designed for the dining hall of St Catherine’s College, Oxford. Arne jacobsen was the architect of the college which was built in 1962. The Fritz Hansen labels under the chairs have a production date of Dec 1968 making these early examples of this classic design. The leather upholstered seat and back is a continuous curve designed to fit the natural curvature of the spine. The chairs have aluminium swivel bases with black rubber feet.
